Midrand at a glance

Situated between Centurion and Kyalami and forming part of the Johannesburg Municipality is the city of Midrand. Established in 1981, from an area previously referred to as Halfway House, Midrand became part of the City of Johannesburg in 2000. Spanning a total area of 152.87 km2 – the name Midrand is commonly used to refer to the suburbs that surround the N1 highway (Ben Schoeman Highway portion) these suburbs include the likes of Vorna Valley, Glen Austin Randjesfontein, Halfway House, Halfway Gardens and Noordwyk.

Experiencing incredible growth over the past decade, thus contributing to the relatively modern nature of this region – many businesses move into this area for its convenient location in proximity to Johannesburg and to good highway links. Now a thriving hub of business, industry and commerce, many major corporations have set up their base of operation here.

Midrand Industrial and Commercial Property Market

Over the past decade, the demand for industrial and commercial property in Midrand has remained steady, on par with other major nodes in its surrounding areas. Current trends indicate particular activity in the letting sector as more businesses move to this region for the secure industrial and commercial complexes, parks and buildings that can be found here. Another contributing factor is the competitive rental prices per m2 – when compared to other industrial node, particularly in Sandton and other Johannesburg suburbs.
